Acupressure is an ancient Chinese science where the belief is that placing pressure on different parts of the body can lead to different effects. Some acupressure points can stimulate weight loss, making it a credible alternative to some traditional weight loss methods.
Some of the best acupressure weight loss points are the ear lobe, knee and shin. However, there are many other more specific weight loss points that someone trained in acupressure would be able to identify for you. Each of these pressure points don’t actually make your fat levels drop instantly, but they do offer indirect ways to reduce weight gain.

Finding the acupressure point on the ear lobe will help reduce temptation. The actual job of the ear lobe acupressure point is that it stimulates appetite suppression within your body, thus making you feel less hungry and hopefully lose weight. Next, the knee. The knee acupressure point helps reduce water retention. Since water makes up such a huge part of our body, stimulating this point to reduce the amount of water we retain will help us lose some ‘water weight’. Finally, the acupressure point near the shin bone can affect our digestive tract. Stimulating this acupressure point helps increase the efficiency of your digestive system resulting in you getting more nutrients out of the same amount of food.

If you’re considered acupressure for weight loss, it is definitely worth talking to an acupressure specialist as they will know exactly where each point is located, and they will know countless more acupressure points that can affect different energies in your body, for example stress. Whilst this may not seem worthwhile to those considering weight loss, you might actually find that stress is the root cause of your weight loss and it is therefore worth trying to reduce through acupressure. If you have medical conditions too then you should seek advice from a specialist as there are some areas that shouldn’t be stimulated under certain conditions, if you’re pregnant for example.

People report different results from following acupressure weight loss plans, but whatever good it does for you it shouldn’t be used as a full replacement for diet and exercise. These two things are the keys to weight loss and so you should treat acupressure for weight loss as a supplement to everything you’re already doing.

Finally, there’s not only weight loss benefits to be had from acupressure weight loss therapy. You can also ask your specialist to help you out with any other areas of your life you’re struggling with, for example anxiety or depression. With literally hundreds of acupressure points on the body, as defined by traditional Chinese practices, you will be able to find a solution to almost any problem here.

Acupuncture for Weight Loss

Today we look at acupuncture for weight loss, and hopefully answer any questions you might have about the course of treatment, of this alternative therapy. First, you might want to know what acupuncture is. Acupuncture is a recognised medical treatment used for a huge variety of conditions worldwide and involves lightly pushing very thin needles into different points of your body – these are called your energy pathways (or your ‘chi’). It was originally part of Chinese medical methods but has now become much more mainstream and available in the west – now even the NHS prescribes it for the treatment of some conditions.

When you’re receiving the acupuncture weight loss therapy, the needles in you will stimulate pain receptors in your body which will produce endorphins – the same endorphins that are produced when you have been exercising. Endorphins make you feel happier, just like as you do after a good exercise session. However, they have also been said to reduce your appetite. As you can imagine, a reduced appetite leads to less hunger, less food consumer and therefore weight loss.

The acupuncture and weight loss specialist you see should ask you a series of questions that will try and determine the underlying reasons behind your weight gain. They can then look at a chart and see exactly where to stick the pins in order to alter your body’s chi. Some examples of what they might focus on include insulin levels or the output of the pituitary gland – these would help decrease your natural appetite.

You still need to maintain a healthy lifestyle whilst having weight loss acupuncture. With similar types of weight loss treatment, you should regard acupuncture as a supplement to your diet and exercise regime rather than a miracle cure. The acupuncture sessions will need to be carried out on a regular basis too – a one-off session is no good. Your specialist will be able to tell you how often you need to receive them and what other activities you should be engaging in outside of the sessions.

If you research the topic, you may find that there isn’t a great deal of scientific support for acupuncture weight loss, but many people have reported weight loss results while receiving acupuncture, and if it ends up working for you then you should carry on; weight loss is about finding what works for you. It is also very difficult to quantify the internal energy of your body in scientific terms and so studies would have struggled to find out an answer to it.

However, one area of acupuncture and weight loss, that there is a lot of scientific support for, is its safety – there are negligible side effects to the treatment and therefore is suitable for almost anyone. You should, however, check with your specialist if you have any concerns.

To conclude, we hope we’ve provided you with some answers about acupuncture for weight loss. You should have noted from this article that acupuncture can lead to weight loss on an individual level, how the process works, what you should be doing alongside your sessions, but most importantly that it’s a safe alternative therapy.

Ayurveda is a little-known weight loss technique and is categorised under the ‘alternative’ weight loss methods to try. Ayurveda is based on the five great elements – earth, fire, water, air and ether, utilising a mixture of fitness, dieting and spiritual techniques to help you lose weight.

In Ayurveda weight loss, being overweight or underweight are signals that your internal energies are unbalanced. The philosophy here states that this can happen without regard to the amount of food you’re eating; Ayurveda is more based on balancing your metabolism with your food intake to inhance weight loss. This is quite a nice technique to use if you’re already tried other, more traditional, weight loss plans and found that they’ve been hard to follow or haven’t really helped that much.

Following Ayurveda for weight loss includes enhancing your digestive fibre by consuming foods that will speed up this process. These include things like, ginger, mango, melons and dark, bitter green vegetables. You should sip hot water during the day and one day a week follow a liquid-only diet plan. Try and chew a little ginger root for a few minutes before meals to aid your digestive system or try and work ginger into your foods.

Ayurveda weight loss also includes a bit of spiritual work. You should try and ask yourself searching questions such as “how do I feel?”, “what weight do I want to be” or “is it food I’m really craving or something else?”. It is particularly important to focus on the questions about why you’re eating or why you want to lose weight; you have to want to lose weight for the right reasons and following Ayurvedic weight loss should help you realise a few key truths about yourself. If you find that you’re eating because of some emotional distress then you shouldn’t be dieting, instead you should seek help to get over the original emotional distress and not try and cover it up by eating.

A final part of Ayurveda is exercise. For Ayurvedic weight loss the exercise isn’t about how many calories you can burn in an hour, but actually focused around relaxations in natural surroundings. For example, you should try and do yoga regularly or go for hikes surrounded by green countryside. These will help you balance your inner energies whilst still getting some degree of exercise.

Psychotherapy weight loss session

Psychotherapy is the treatment of mental or emotional conditions through the medium of a trained psychiatrist. It covers a wide range of emotional and mental issues ranging from mental illness to distressing emotional situations involving, but not limited to, stress and dealing with grief. However, it is also possible to achieve weight loss through psychotherapy. Whatever you use psychotherapy for, it takes upon a set format; you generally receive a one-to-one session with a person trained in a form of psychoanalysis where they build a relationship with you and try to work out the reasons for why you’re in your current position and then use that knowledge to turn your situation around and rid you of your problem.

If you’re considering psychotherapy weight loss then you need to understand the aims that this particular type of psychotherapy has. Firstly it looks to improve your body image especially looking at a realistic target for you to achieve; what sort of weight you can reach and how skinny you can, or want, to look. Next self-esteem has to be addressed as it can often be the cause of excessive weight gain. In some cases, anger may need to be reduced, as sometimes anger can be caused by the frustration of not being able to achieve the body you desire. Psychotherapy can also be used to help reduce depression caused by obesity and thus improve social wellbeing.

There are a few reasons why people want to lose weight with psychotherapy, however it isn’t for everyone as weight loss techniques differ from person to person. Some people consider weight loss through psychotherapy as a rather last resort, almost like having some form of weight loss surgery, and it can be fine to think of it like this; if more traditional methods such as dieting or an exercise regime aren’t working then psychotherapy might be an excellent alternative for you. However, some people are completely phased by dieting or weight loss and struggle to achieve the weight loss they require on their own and so they might choose weight loss through psychotherapy as a first resort.

One particular advantage of psychotherapy weight loss is that weight loss becomes a two-person goal so you have your consultant for support the whole way through your weight loss journey. This means that can keep an eye on your progress and if something isn’t quite going right then you can be put back on track by the consultant.

Psychotherapy for weight loss is usually recommended when you can’t find your motivation to lose weight, although you are overweight or obese and your general health is in jeopardy. If you have friends or family that obtained great results with this weight loss technique, or you just feel that you need a psychotherapist to not hesitate to get one from the moment you decide to lose weight.

With today’s pace of life it is important that everyone finds time in their busy schedules to properly relax and a ten or fifteen minute meditation session is an excellent way to achieve this. This article will teach you how to meditate properly.

The first step to meditating properly is finding a quiet and peaceful spot in your environment – this might be your bedroom, but can easily be any room in your house, office, or workplace as long as it is somewhere that you are absolutely not going to be disturbed. If you have any equipment that might disturb you whilst meditating, such as mobile phones that might ring, make sure they are all turned off. Even something that is making a slight buzzing noise (such as a fridge/freezer) can put you off – the kitchen isn’t a good place to meditate.

Next, sit down with your pelvis tilted slightly forward – it is easy to do this if you are sitting on a thick cushion, such as a floor cushion. If you don’t have one of these, you can sit on a chair with the back legs lifted about 3 inches off the ground (raise them up with old books). When you are in position, straighten your back and try and line up your spine so that you don’t have to make a conscious effort to keep yourself upright – you will know when you have found the right posture.

Now, relax every part of your body. It is easiest to do this by relaxing one part of yourself, and then doing a mental search for the part of your body that isn’t relaxed and relax that. Keep repeating this step until you can’t find anywhere in your body that doesn’t feel relaxed. This includes everything from your thighs to the smallest muscles in your face. You have now met all the physical prerequisites for meditating properly and it is time to deal with the mind.

When meditating properly you have to clear the mind of any thoughts and essentially concentrate on nothing (which is harder than it sounds). Two ways to do this are to concentrate on a point in space and allow thoughts to pass through your subconscious (without you making any conscious thoughts about them) or simply blocking out everything in your mind. Sit like this for your desired length of time and you have now meditated properly. This length of time differs for everyone – some people will find 5 minutes more than adequate whilst others will need closer to 15 minutes and some even longer.

Meditation’s primary aim is to relax and distress, but it also helps you gain good posture and can even help you lose weight in the long run.

Very few people think to use hypnosis for weight loss. For the majority it sounds a little bit too complicated or the sort of thing that magicians do; a cheap trick. However, hypnosis and weight loss are more linked than may be expected and whilst hypnosis for weight loss may not be the first thing that springs to mind for someone looking to lose weight, it certainly shouldn’t be ruled out.

There is no need to visit a professional meditation clinic; self hypnosis weight loss techniques can be easily found and practiced in the secure environment of your own home; after all, hypnosis and weight loss both require you to feel secure with yourself and your environment; where better to practice hypnosis for weight loss than at home!

Essentially, weight loss by hypnosis works best if you give yourself an hour or so alone to fully immerse yourself in the activity. The method works by channelling away all your negative energies that prevent you from feeling good about yourself. When you feel bad about yourself then you are less able to lose weight in an effective manner. A low body image has been conclusively linked to things such as comfort eating and is certainly a negative factor in terms of your weight. Through meditation we can establish a new and positive self image that gives us more confidence in ourselves. This confidence allows us to put all our efforts into losing weight which is incredibly important in ensuring a sustained process of weight loss is maintained.

The process of meditation first relaxes our body fully. Through a mixture of breathing and visualising ensuring that every action is completely controlled all our muscles and our mind is taken into a state of complete comfort. From this point we then implant in our minds an image of how we would like to be, ensuring that this is realistic. By implanting this image into our minds we have something to aim for. It also acts as in combat against the preconceptions forced upon us by airbrushed celebrities. Instead of aspiring to be an impossible size our goal is realistic and prevents us from giving up if things go wrong.

Whilst it is all too easy to sneer at the idea of using hypnosis for weight loss it is actually a very effective method for creating a positive self image and boosting your self esteem; this is invaluable when you are trying to lose weight and are likely to be in a low state of mind.

When attempting to lose weight, people nearly always forget what an influence the mind has over our ability to shift those pounds. We seem to regard weight loss as a purely physical thing which means that we do all the physical activities that we regard as being beneficial to losing weight. By this, I mean that we are more than happy to try and undertake a diet, or go out and do some exercise every so often because we believe that these physical processes are going to have a greater effect on, what we perceive to be, the physical process of weight loss.

However, it is incredibly important that we use the mind when we want to lose weight. Think of it this way, when you are feeling down; perhaps you haven’t had a very good week and have maintained your weight or put on a few pounds, what is it that is going to keep you going? Your body is certainly not going to; if anything your body is going to make you give up as it yearns for all those tasty treats that you know you can’t have. It is your mind that is going to make you go the extra mile to keep going. Your mind is a tremendous motivator and can be used to lose weight.

Meditation for weight loss is well known to be an effective tool. By harnessing the power of the mind through a variety of breathing and moving techniques we can enable ourselves to lose weight quickly and effectively. Meditation weight loss is all about channelling the mind’s energy in a way that focuses it upon helping you to lose weight. There is, of course, a physical side to meditation if it is incorporated into a session of yoga, but the main way in which we use meditation for weight loss is by allowing us to use our mind to focus energies into losing weight.

If we are to lose weight we must believe that we are losing weight. If we imagine ourselves looking thinner and feeling good about ourselves then it acts as a motivator. Even if we have a bad day we can keep believing that we are losing weight then it will happen, we will keep working and the pounds will fall off.

Weight loss trough meditation can certainly be achieved and there are many people to confirm it. This practice should not be seen though as a standalone solution. Weight loss through meditation is efficient only when embedded in a complete weight loss routine.

You can consider meditation weight loss as a booster of any efficient slimming routine!

People performing yoga for weight loss

When it comes to losing weight, we all think that we know the score. If we eat right and do exercise then the pounds should fall off. However, it isn’t always as easy as this. The eating healthily part is the bit that the majority of people do best; whilst it is true to say that many find it difficult to resist the temptations of the unhealthy foods, once you are into a routine you find that it gets much easier with time. However, the exercise part is what many people struggle with. Weekdays don’t exactly lend themselves to nipping down to the gym for a few hours; the work is generally long and hard and the trouble is that by the time we get home, all we want to do is rest; not the best way to get yourself motivated to go out and have a work out! What is needed is a way to lose weight whilst you relax.

Yoga and weight loss aren’t generally two things that you’d think to link; of course, yoga relaxes you but surely it can’t make you lose weight too? Yet, yoga weight loss is something that is well known and practiced throughout the world. If you try and do yoga for weight loss then you will find it much easier to lose weight. The main advantage to yoga is that the only motivation you need is a desire to relax; something that we all have when we get home from work. You don’t have to go anywhere – just find a spot on the floor and start relaxing and losing weight.

Whilst we don’t realise it, yoga does in fact work our muscles very hard. The constant controlled movement means that we are burning of calories from the moment we start and the fact that it also helps to relax us means that we feel less inclined to give up; the result being that we end up exercising for longer. Yet, the mental benefits that yoga brings can also help you to lose weight in the long term. The removal of stress or other emotions that can often lead to comfort eating means that long term yoga weight loss is certainly an option.

Essentially, yoga and weight loss are inextricably linked, not only because of the physical activity but also by putting you in a weight loss frame of mind. Ashtanga yoga and Bikram yoga are two types that focus on weight loss rather than stretching so are worth trying if you want to try yoga for weight loss.

Many people sneer at the idea of a relationship between mind and body. They feel that it is merely psychological studies for which they have contempt for not being ‘proper’ methods of weight loss. The thing is that this is simply not the case; the relationship between mind and body is something that has been deliberated over by philosophers such as Descartes for centuries.

The idea that mind and body are separate entities, yet affect one another is a belief in interactionism; that is that the mind can influence the body and help you to lose weight. In the same way that there is evidence of mind and body healing, there is also evidence that the power of mind over body does, in fact, not only help with weight loss but also make you lose weight. There are various ways in which this happens and each of them is an accredited way of losing weight.

How can your mind affect your weight loss attempt?
Broadly speaking, there are two ways in which your mind can affect your weight loss.

Positive Motivation
The first is relatively straightforward. Your mind is a powerful tool when it comes to staying motivated and remaining positive about losing weight. The ability to make yourself believe that you are succeeding and not get disheartened when something goes wrong is one which must not be underestimated; to be able to take pleasure in even the smallest amount of weight loss is something that will keep you motivated in times of hardship.

Meditation
The second way is much less obvious. Your body responds to the way that your mind is thinking with a physical response. When we feel sad, we cry and when we feel happy, we laugh. This is a natural and physical response of the body to the emotions of the mind. In the same way, when we feel full, we stop eating. If we can make our minds think that we are full, then we feel the natural response to stop eating and therefore we lose weight. This is a very important technique that can be achieved through various techniques such as meditation.

One thing is sure, the ability to lose weight due to the relationship between mind and body is one of the most underrated, yet effective ways of losing weight. It is just a matter of throwing yourself into it and having faith in the ability of your mind to help you to lose weight.
