<p>The Bree Broyce weight loss story is incredibly inspirational. It details how a 234lb woman lost a huge amount of weight, dropped numerous dress sizes and ended up winning the highly-coveted title of ‘Miss South Carolina’ in America.<span id="more-2472"></span></p>
<p>Bree Boyce took just three years to lose a total of 110 pounds (over 7 stone) but she didn’t have any particular luck with specific diet plans on the way and she certainly didn’t see any ‘fad’ diets as responsible for her success. She maintains that her weight loss was simply caused by three years of healthy eating and a healthy amount of exercise. </p>
<p>Bree Boyce did use the Atkins diet for weight loss at one point, and was very successful with it, losing a total of 65lbs. However the victory was short-lived and she soon put the weight back on. Undeterred she began getting up at 5.30am every morning to work out before starting her day. She has since become a keen runner and competes in various marathons.</p>
<p>In July this year she won the Miss South Carolina pageant and will now go on to represent her state in Miss America 2012. She’s even kept her size 18 jeans to show what a difference she’s made to her life – it looks like she can fit in each leg now!</p>
<p>There are a few key things to take away from this inspirational weight loss story. The first, and perhaps most important, is that anything is possible. Losing over 7 stones over 3 years, and then winning a highly competitive pageant should show this. Bree Boyce’s weight gain wasn’t even a recent phenomenon; she had been overweight since the age of 10 so she was well stuck in her ways – again proving that anyone can lose weight if they are dedicated.</p>
<p>Also, the idea that you don’t need to follow trends or buy loads of different dieting books and products is a good one. As long as you’re disciplined by watching what you eat and doing a good amount of exercise, you too can make the change to your life that Bree Boyce did.</p>

<p>We always like to report on any celebrities that have had fast weight loss experiences – it’s always good to see what diets they’re following and because they’re in the public eye so much we can see how much they’ve lost, or follow their campaign very closely. This week we bring you the story of Sara Rue, a 32 year old American actress, who said she never used to wear a bikini because of her weight.<span id="more-2208"></span> She’s dropped from being a US size 14 (UK size 16) down to a US size 4 (UK size 6) and has kept her weight off for 9 months so far.</p>
<p>Sara Rue’s weight loss has seen her drop a huge 50 pounds and she describes the experience as “liberating and freeing” – if that’s not good enough motivation for you then what is? She was also losing weight in preparation for her wedding which is coming up in just over a month’s time.</p>
<p>Sara Rue followed a 1200 calorie-a-day plan with foods that her diet consultant recommended for her. She was able to even mix in her some of her favourite foods with what her consultant recommended. A few tips she shares with us is that she adds fruit and vegetables to everything, and tries to fit as much as those into her life as she can. She also sees meat as a side part to her meal, rather than the main part of it to help initiate weight loss. Mixing in lots vegetables with your main meal and having meat as only a relatively small part tricks your brain into thinking you’re eating more food than you actually are, thus making you feel fuller than the actual amount of calories you’re consuming.</p>
<p>Sara Rue’s weight loss is now in the ‘maintenance’ stage where she’s trying to keep the weight off that she’s lost. This means that she can eat 1700 calories per day, which is only 300 calories short of the recommended daily allowance for women (2000 calories).</p>
<p>One unusual philosophy of the diet she’s following is that she’s allowed to eat her own snacks because she feels that not eating something like chocolate would make her dieting process impossible because of the huge amount of cravings; she admits to eating a slice of triple chocolate cheesecake every day!</p>
<p>Finally, in terms of exercise, Sara Rue recently ran a half marathon, and she hadn’t been a particularly active person before – the diet helped her take off the weight which enabled her to get running, and then she slowly worked her way up from one mile to thirteen.</p>

<p>It’s always inspiring to hear weight loss stories from other people as it makes you stop and think about how you could change your life for the better by using some of their examples and applying it to your life. Here we look at the Boring family who have between them lost a grand total of 518 pounds (that’s over a quarter of a ton!).<span id="more-2026"></span></p>
<p>At age 47, Dave Boring weighed 300 pounds and was on various types of medication for lots of health-related problems, including cholesterol and high blood pressure medication. At this point he told himself he needed to get healthy and now exercises 6 days a week and watches what he eats very carefully. This has seen him lose a whopping 108 pounds over the course of 2 years, and his figure has changed dramatically. He could easily be described as looking at least 10 years younger and he’s still losing weight.</p>
<p>The most inspiring part of this story however is that he has helped 10 other members of his family lose weight too by recommending exercise and dietary changes and now between them they’ve lost over 500 pounds. With health problems in the family ranging from stroke to diabetes to heart disease, the whole family is pleased with their performance, and Dave for inspiring them. </p>
<p>Take Dave’s parents for example &#8211; they are both in their 70s and were on medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. They consulted their doctor about their son’s weight loss regime and he gave them the all clear to go ahead with it. They have now lost over a hundred pounds between them because of it, and done away with their medicine &#8211; before the weight loss they needed machines to help them breathe at night, now they don’t.</p>
<p>One of Dave’s most useful tools in his weight loss routine was the ‘bod pod’ &#8211; a capsule that you can sit in that calculates your body fat, and how many calories you need per day for your particular metabolism. He has now set up a company that aims to make the bod pod more widely available as he attributes a fair portion of his success to it.</p>
<p>If you ever needed inspiration for a weight loss goal this should be it. Think about Dave. He lost over 100 pounds in 2 years, completely changed his appearance, future health and founded his own business.</p>

<p><strong>John Goodman</strong>, the actor from Roseanne and Treme has looked quite charming in the past. Whilst being conducive to some roles, his weight has spiralled out of control and he really didn’t appear to take much care of himself in 2008 and 2009. However, when pictures appeared on him on an AFI Tribute to Mike Nichols night in June 2010, he has appeared to follow a 100 pound weight loss regime that has made him look 10 years younger and much more full of life.<span id="more-1829"></span></p>
<p><strong>John Goodman’s weight loss</strong> he says is put down to the fact that he spent so much of his life wondering what to eat next and he feels it was such a waste to spent time doing this when he could be doing something more creative. So how did the John Goodman weight loss occur? He started off by quitting drinking 3 years ago now, and then he hired Mackie Shilstone – a coach who has trained athletes from all over the world, but most notably Serena Williams. We can’t all afford to hire world class coaches however and so he has shared a few tips with us. Firstly, he has cut absolutely all the sugar from his diet (as sugar is a big contributor to weight gain) and he hits the gym 6 days a week. Goodman says the gym isn’t a massive workout every week but he does break a slight sweat and this really helps with his weight loss.</p>
<p><strong>John Goodman’s weight</strong> loss now enables him to take on much more athletic roles in films, so hopefully we might see him running around the place more on TV. His coach has commented that John is now a completely different person and can run for good lengths with agility; John has said that he doesn’t want to return to being heavy again and so it’ll be interesting to see what strategy he uses to keep his weight off. Goodman’s weight loss does include completely cutting sugar out from his diet, which just might not be achievable for some people. If this is the case for you then you can look at diets which allow you to have sugary treats every now and again.</p>
<p>We should use <strong>John Goodman’s weight loss story</strong> to inspire and motivate us to lose weight. Quitting alcohol after 30 years of regular drinking and dropping out sugar completely is not easy at all. 100lbs is a lot to lose and we congratulate John on his hard work and dedication to his weight loss!</p>

However, the after weight loss photos show a younger man which looks a lot more healthy and energetic.</p>

<p><strong>50 Cent’s weight loss</strong> is now well-known for those who keep up with celebrity news, and for those who don’t, 50 Cent lost a lot of weight back in May 2010 to play a cancer patient in the movie “Things Fall Apart”. He decided to star in the film after a close friend of his died from cancer and felt he had to lose a vast amount of weight to respect his friend; to do him justice. 50 Cent’s weight loss was so rapid that at one point his manager told him to go see a doctor. It seems that he managed to drop 50 to 60 pounds within only 9 weeks. This interesting thing about this weight loss story is that 50 Cent is a 6-foot tall guy built out of muscle, so to get his size and, moreover, his weight down so much he really must have done something special.<span id="more-1469"></span></p>
<p>Let’s look at <strong>how 50 Cent lost weight</strong>. Some of the work came from fitness; in order to suppress his appetite he ran every day to stop himself from being hungry. The fitness programme also helped him lose a lot of weight as he used the treadmill for 3 hours per day. In terms of dieting, 50 Cent followed a strict liquid diet but it appears difficult to determine what sort of liquid diet he followed. There are two broad types of liquid diets and these are the clear liquid diet, and the full liquid diet. The former one consists purely of drinking clear liquids, i.e. clear fruit juices, clear carbonated drinks and clear vegetable broths. However, a full liquid diet involves drinking anything blending with a smooth consistency, such as milkshakes, smoothies, water and other beverages.</p>
<p>Since <strong>50 Cent’s fat loss</strong>, he has since beefed up again after filming for his role in Things Fall Apart (which is in the post-production stage and will be released in 2011). Whilst for most people they do not aim to put it back on afterwards, it is certainly an interesting case study in how to lose weight fast, although how one would sustain such a diet after the rapid weight loss is a key question. Recent pictures of him show the weight gain (especially if you look at photos at the peak of his weight loss) and should serve as motivation as to how easy it is to weight back on, and how you should keep on striving to keep that weight off as you diet like 50 Cent.</p>
<p>In fact, <strong>Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson&#8217;s weight loss</strong>, should be seen as a role-model in terms of dedication and perseverance. He simply went on an accelerated diet because he had to fit the movies shooting schedule. No one says that you should try a similar rapid weight loss experience, because the more quick the weight loss is, the bigger is the risk of you bulking back up once you end the diet. 50 Cent&#8217;s weight gain can be provided as an example in this case too. He managed to bulk up easily to almost his original weight once the shooting was over. </p>

<blockquote><p>My name is Emma an I was a 231lbs (105 kg) female, a little over 1 year ago. At 5&#8242;7&#8243; (1,74 m) everyone that looked at me was totally entitled to list me as obese. The main weight gain occurred during my pregnancy.<span id="more-1407"></span> Sadly, I could not lose to much weight after my son was born. I did lose only about 12 or 13 pounds (5-6 kilograms) and got stuck at the above mentioned weight.<br />
Months passed but I wasn&#8217;t able to continue my weight loss. To be honest, I was still breastfeeding so I did not start any weight loss diet, I just hoped that I will return to normal weight without to much of a hassle. One day, after the breastfeeding period was completed, I looked at myself in the mirror and I had to be honest to myself: I was looking terrible! I just couldn&#8217;t accept my obese look, knowing that I was always an attractive, normal weight female. I decided that I have to take care of my body.<br />
I started a weight loss diet. I did not follow any popular diet, I just tried to follow some simple but very efficient diet tips. I started to lose weight, slowly but surly and every dropped pound reinforced my determination.<br />
First, I started to sort my meals and schedule them according to a healthy lifestyle. A very important fact is that I quit eating after 6pm. Only when I felt extremely hungry, I allowed myself to eat a yogurt or an apple in the evening.<br />
Next, I eliminated all animal fats, fried food, sweets (especially sugar), sodas and the high calorie snacks from my menu. Positive weight loss results didn&#8217;t hesitate to appear. Here is an example menu from my diet:<br />
<strong>Breakfast:</strong> A yogurt garnished with cereals and a sugar-free coffee, sweetened with a teaspoon of honey.<br />
<strong>Lunch:</strong> <a href="http://www.weightlosstips.co.uk/recipe-for-homemade-vegetable-soup/" title="Homemade vegetable soup">Homemade vegetable soup</a>.<br />
<strong>Snack (4pm):</strong> An apple.<br />
<strong>Dinner (6pm):</strong> Grilled chicken with salad (lettuce, coleslaw or anything similar)<br />
After dinner I usually did not eat anything until the next morning. If I did feel to hungry or simply had to eat something, I either grabbed an yogurt or an apple or any low fat fruit like orange, peach or pineapple.</p>
<p>Following these simple diet tips I managed to lose 55 pounds withing 12 months. I currently weigh 165 lbs (75 kg) and I want to continue to lose weight until I reach the 154 lbs (70 kg) mark. I am extremely happy with my new weight and I feel great. I never want to be obese again. Good luck to everyone that is planning to lose weight. If I managed to do it, you can accomplish it too. You just need a little willpower and determination!</p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>When you’ve played football all your life, you tend to get a little bit complacent when it comes to weight. Having been in a youth academy since the age of 10 and after a professional career spanning over 20 years with decent teams throughout the inferior British League Divisions, and thousands of practice games with my mates, I was in tip top condition when I retired, from &#8216;professional&#8217; activity, aged 40.<span id="more-406"></span> You don’t realise it but your condition doesn’t stay so good after a few years!</p>
<p>The thing is, throughout my career, my body had been used to working very efficiently; with a majority of the energy within the food being used during training and matches. My diet consisted largely of complex carbs; lots of pasta throughout the day! The issue that I had was that once I’d retired from the game, I was no longer doing intense training every day so all that energy taken from my energy rich diet was not being used and was stored as fat. Within the year after my career ended, I had put on an extra 40 pounds. </p>
<p>Obviously, when I visited a few of my former clubs I came in for a bit of ribbing; many jokes were made about my changing physique and, although I tried to laugh it off, I found it hard to disguise the fact that I was unhappy with my weight. In fact, it was with this banter in mind that I decided to undertake a stringent weight loss programme.</p>
<p>My first decision was to change my diet because, as much as I loved my food, it wasn’t the sort that I needed if I was to keep my weight down. So I reduced the amount of carbohydrate rich foods that I was eating and turned more to proteins to fill me up but not give me too much energy. I also got membership at the local gym because I knew that exercise would help me to lose weight. </p>
<p>What a transformation! This combination of diet and exercise has resulted in a 30 pound weight loss! I have managed to get myself down to within 10 pounds of my target weight in half the time it took me to put it on; that’s right, I lost 30 pounds in 6 months! I’ve never felt better and am not coming in for any more jokes at my old clubs. You never know, I might even take part in the Masters competition sometime! Good luck to y&#8217;ll!</p></blockquote>

Jack, a 34-year-old bank employee, is successfully managing to control his body weight at 34. He was struck with weight problems going into his 30&#8217;s, but found the way to deal with this issue. Read his full story and get inspired by his success:</p>
<blockquote><p>Some people are massive sports fans; I have had friends throughout the years who play football all through the winter, cricket in the summer and like to swim regularly in between. This was particularly noticeable at university where you hardly see some people because they were playing some sport somewhere.<span id="more-216"></span> Sadly, I was never one of those people – the closest I ever got to football was watching Manchester United on the TV with a beer in one hand and a packet of crisps in the other! This was a habit I picked up at university and, quite frankly, sport never appealed to me – it always sounded like too much effort – and in any case it cut into my relaxation and socialising time. I therefore was uninterested in my 20s when people were asking me to join various teams; I just didn’t have the desire! </p>
<p>When I settled into my first job in a bank I was one of those working on the floor – constantly moving about helping people to sort out their finances and giving them advice on mortgages and things like that. Because of my finance-based degree I was able to rise through the ranks within about 7 years and by the time I was 30 I was working in the offices upstairs. This is where the trouble started – without the constant movement that I was having downstairs I was devoid of all exercise and the pounds began piling on. It was only about 3 years later when I realised that I had gained 3 stone and was now overweight that I decided that something had to be done about it. I tried various diets but I just couldn’t stick to them; everything just tastes so good! It was only when I was at my lowest ebb that I finally succumbed to my friends’ will and joined them at the swimming pool. </p>
<p>It was nothing intensive; just a few lengths a few days every week but it suited me perfectly. I was able to take it at my own pace and do as many lengths as I wanted. I did try and get into the spirit of it though and set myself targets and the weight began to fall off me! I even went on a few evening jogs with a couple of mates in the summer and what’s more, I loved it! I managed to get down to my target weight within the year and I don’t intend on putting more on! I will stick to my body weight control routine. Good luck to all of you that are trying the same! Never give up!</p></blockquote>
